Hi, I’m Judy Becker of Lauray of Salisbury. In fact, I am Lauray of Salisbury. You’re here because you want to know more about us — yes, I refer to me as us in this context — so let’s begin at the beginning.

Just over 50 years ago my parents began a small business raising pansies and bedding plants. When the first permanent greenhouse was erected a few years later they began growing a few indoor plants. In 1967 I came back home for a break from graduate school and thought that I’d help them get caught up and then go on to something else. Instead, I too became fascinated by growing plants, and I’m still here. The plant collection reflects my eclectic interest in many groups of plants.

Because this is a one-person business, and I am frequently away for talks, shows, and occasional personal reasons, the greenhouse is open by appointment or by chance. I can bring plant orders to shows but please call at least a week ahead.
